Travel where the big ships can’t

Adventure Cruising combines the real-life experiences of our tried and tested small-group trips with the added comfort of a well-appointed leisure cruise. But instead of shuffle board and onboard casinos, we’re all about taking you to the smaller ports (the one’s the bigger ships just can’t get to) and really taking you into the heart of the destination.

Bali’s Kuta is paradise enough for most tourists, but the volcanic islands of Satonda and Banta host some of the best dive spots in Indonesia. The beaches of Penang and Phuket are beloved for good reason, but the sandy shores of Ko Yao Yai are just as enticing, and a lot less crowded. Ha Long Bay is a must-visit, but don’t miss the waterways and deep limestone caves of Phong Nha-Ke Bang National Park, the splendour of which is still obscure to much of the world. Cruising Asia holds some essential treasures that can’t be ignored, but it’s surprises like these along the way that make for an exceptional journey.

Pursue the unpredictable in Penang

On the Malaysian island of Penang, modern Christian churches stand down the road from Islamic mosques and ancient Buddhist temples. The walls of UNESCO World Heritage buildings serve as canvases for international street artists. Historic Chinese shopfronts house trendy cafes and local open-air markets sell some of South East Asia’s tastiest street food.

Rinca Island of Indonesia green mountains and the see side view

Comb the wilds of Rinca Island

Indonesia’s Rinca Island is the lesser-known sister to Komodo Island. It’s a place to witness the famed Komodo dragon in its natural surrounds without the distraction of the selfie-sticks in droves. Some of the dragons can grow to three metres (10 feet) in length, and the population on the island is so dense that sightings are almost guaranteed.

ship sailing in the sea of Satonda island in Indonesia

Escape to Satonda Island

At the centre of remote Satonda Island, Indonesia, lie the crystal blue waters of a flooded volcanic crater lake. It’s an ideal spot for swimming and snorkelling. Before you leave, hang a rock from one of the trees around the lake to have your wish come true.
