Local wildlife and local culture await in Kenya and Tanzania
The vast grasslands of East Africa support the largest concentration of wildlife in the world. Over 12 days you'll get among the massive herds and their predators in an overland truck and 4x4's with our expert local leaders at the helm. From Nairobi, travel to the waters of lakes Elementeita and Nakuru, then take in quintessential, breath-taking Africa in the Masai Mara, the Serengeti, and the magificent Ngorongoro Crater – all filled with iconic vistas and animals. Enjoy plenty of included game drives and walks to spot the local inhabitants – lions, cheetahs, elephants and more. There is nothing quite like staying in the heart of these incredible national reserves, returning to a welcoming camp after days exploring the plains with guides who have grown up on this land, and falling alseep to the sounds of east Africa. This is an unforgettable journey.

Is this trip right for you?
Purpose-built overland vehicles are used for the duration of the trip. It is important to note that while these vehicles are not air-conditioned, all windows do open to allow for fresh air. Be prepared for some dust, heat and wind. Curtains are fitted to minimise the sunshine.
This itinerary features some long travel days, which can be exacerbated by bumpy African roads. It is recommended that you pay close attention to the given approximations of driving hours.
You don't have to be an athlete to take a Peregrine overland safari, but a general level of physical movement is required. For example, simply entering and exiting the vehicles several times a day will require a certain level of physical fitness and capability.
Overlanding is the perfect journey for those travellers with an open mind and the spirit for adventure. However it may be quite different to any style of travel you have experienced before. Ask your agent for a copy of our Peregrine overlanding flyer for more information or head to http://www.peregrineadventures.com/en-au/africa-overland
On day 7 we stay in Migori to break up the journey between the Masai Mara National Reserve and Serengeti National Park. The accommodation here is quite basic due to very few options in the area.
As the early bird catches the worm, the early camper sights the animals. There will be many early starts either to make use of the better safari time or to beat the morning traffic on long travel days.

East Africa Discovery, May 2018
This is one of the most amazing trips I have been on. We had many close up encounters with a range of different wildlife and each location offered different highlights.

East Africa Discovery, May 2018
This trip is amazing because you really go into the game parks and get up close with so many wild animals. The differing environments cater to different animals so you aren't seeing the same ones. I learnt so much also about the people in Kenya and Tanzania. Everyone you come across welcomes you and seem so pleased to have you in their country. It really is a trip of a lifetime!
