  • Why we love Himalaya

    • Kathmandu's friendly hubbub, Pokhara’s glistening jewel of a lake, Chitwan’s animals and lush forests – Nepal can surprise visitors with its variety
    • Fly parallel to the mountains and get a great view of Everest on the flight from Kathmandu to Lukla
    • Nearby Tibet is as wonderfully exotic as destinations get – halfway to heaven and hidden from the world, this is a place that truly deserves the description ‘otherworldly’
    • Our trips are led by people who’ve grown up in these mountains and have guided hundreds of expeditions
    • The proceeds from the lodges we stay in along the Annapurna and Everest trails go back to the community

    Safety information

Your safety is our top priority. It’s one of the main things we consider when designing and operating our trips. Here’s some of the ways we help to keep you safe, and a few of the things you can do to make your trip memorable for all the right reasons. Before you travel We monitor travel alerts provided by the Australian, UK, USA and Canadian governments on a daily basis. Before a tour goes on sale we assess any risks and decide how to reduce and manage these. If we determine that an entire trip, part of a trip or an activity is too risky we won’t do it. It’s as simple as that. If we can’t address the issues and improve conditions we might modify an itinerary, change the accommodation or even decide not to travel to a certain location. Our overseas staff and local leaders are trained to address any health and safety concerns during trips. Before you travel, we’ll give you an emergency phone number. You’ll also get comprehensive pre-departure information, with information about vaccinations and other relevant health issues. We’ll also tell you if there’s any special clothing or equipment you need to bring. During your trip: You local leader is trained in first aid and always carries a first aid kit. Being a local means that if something does go wrong they know fastest and most effective way to get help. On all our high altitude treks we carry a portable altitude chamber and oxygen equipment. We’ll also give you a 24-hour emergency number in addition to the emergency destination telephone number. What you can do: Read through all the information we send you. If you’ve got any questions we’re always available to help. Keep an eye out for travel alerts by consulting your local Foreign Office. We also monitor these daily so that we can modify tours if necessary. Get some medical travel advice about the countries you are visiting, particularly about vaccinations and the type of personal first aid kit you should carry. Make sure you tell us any medical conditions, special needs or dietary requirements you might have. Get your vaccinations and take relevant medication well before travelling so they have time to take effect.

We had a fantastic trek and this was made all the more satisfying because of excellent leadership from our Sherpa (Lhakpa Tshiring. One of the key issues we had on this tek was a change from the originak iteneray which required a 9 hr day from Chainabatthi to Ghandruk, this is far too long a day. We in fact did the trek the reverse to the original itenary and this was a much better way. I would suggest that in future trfeks the itenary that we took should be adopted, that is travel to from Kopra Ridge back to Annapurna south base camp. This then allows for contingencies if snow is blocking the pass as it did in our case. Our Sherpa gave us the best opportunity to see as much as we could without doubling back on tracks already walked. If we had taken tht trek as proposed we would have seen half of what we saw. I would discuss this itenary with Lhakpa for a better explanation of our trekking adventure.

This is a fantastic way to really see the Everest region! The trip to Gokyo is great both for acclimatization and seeing a different valley and it's sights, rather than heading along the main tourist route straight to bases camp. The tour is planned with safety and acclimatization as the priority so there are several free afternoons early on which am the whole trek more enjoyable we your adjusting to the conditions. The lodges were all better then expected, and the staff simply awesome! Our crew could not have been better!!

Really appreciated how well our tour leader kept an eye on all party members and modified the trek to ensure we all achieved most of what we wanted to get out of the trip.
Would suggest stressing to all trekkers to use thin scarves over their nose and mouth to help avoid getting Khumbu cough, which made sleeping and trekking difficult for me.
We were disappointed that Peregrine did not contact us at the Shangri-La Hotel to make arrangements for our trip to Chitwan after our trek. We had to make contact ourselves to find out when we were going to be picked up.

My trip was the best I have experienced. The trip exposed me to a culture and a country that I had never experienced the likes of before. Although there was some shock at first upon arrival in Kathmandu, trekking allowed for a chance to get away from the chaos of city life and to really take in the beauty of Nepal...the people and the land. The trip had the perfect balance of trekking, wildlife and cultural exposure that I was hoping for and more. There is not one part of the trip I would change. I had the best time ever and now can't wait to go back to Nepal again...hopefully soon.

I found the experience to be enjoyable as a whole but only because I have enough mountaineering experience to essentially guide myself up and down a mountain therefore was able to troubleshoot any issues and even help fellow trekkers.

The guiding was adequate but of all the excursions that I have done, unfortunately, it was the lowest quality that I have experienced.

Although the trip was generally good, Peregrine failed miserably in its communications with the clients. It was well known prior to our trip the weather was poor and winter was early. This was never communicated to us. We could have brought additional clothing if we knew the weather was different than planned and that winter was earlier than anticipated. In addition, it was known because of the poor weather and early winter, there was no chance we would be able to make it to the Annapurna South base camp. This was evident from the start of the trip and was confirmed by the Tour leader who stated only one group had made it to the South Base camp since the beginning of October. This information should have been conveyed to the clients and a discussion regarding what we wanted to do. This was very disappointing Peregrine did not have enough foresight and transparency to have this type of communication with its clients.
